It’s Michael Brown from Cram Osteopaths in Glasgow, today I want to talk about some of the techniques that we use in the practice.
One in particular, the Lumbar Spine Manipulation technique, this is a technique where you may hear a click or pop. This works very well for people suffering with facet joint complaints, you may have seen from some of our other videos how we diagnose these types of conditions, but I wanted you to see it from a patient perspective before you come into the practice.
If you are suffering with one of these conditions then this technique may be suitable. These techniques when you may hear a click or pop are all over the internet and are often sensationalized, and some patients get very concerned about the process and others absolutely love it. It doesn’t need to be an outlandish, huge, great big event with all this clicking and popping. The techniques that we use at Cram Osteopaths are all very gentle and I would like you to see it.
We have Anina, our wonderful assistant today that is modeling for us. Anina has assumed the perfect position because she knows what’s about to happen. In this position the patient is usually on their side. We will help set you up for the whole process so you know what is going to happen. We will always check if you are happy to begin. If you are not sure we will always clarify that you are okay before we proceed.
In this position, the Osteopath will decide what segment they’re going to manipulate, from there we may ask you to straighten your bottom leg, and tuck the top leg behind the knee. We will be rolling you forward and just putting some pressure through your pelvis, you will then take a deep breath in and all the way out and there we have it.
If you’re suffering with back pain and you’d like us to take a look at it for you, then please get in touch by the button below or 0141 339 0894.
